Our client is a Qatar based multi-national group founded in 1922 with its roots in the Fashion Retail industry. Today, the firm offers its own brand of luxury Abayas and Jalabiyas as well as other brands. The client is currently expanding its UAE footprint from the existing 4 stores and is looking to hire more than 20 staff across various positions. 

Job brief

Head of Fashion Design provides the overall vision, leadership, and direction of the fashion design strategy for an organization. Develops and implements policies and standards that reinforce the organization's branding strategy. Being a Head of Fashion Design promotes excellence in design thinking and creative strategy for products. Conducts market research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation. Additionally, the Head of Fashion Design stays current on future trends, maintains expert knowledge in design and production techniques, and research new design technologies. Mentors and develops a team of fashion designers. Requires a bachelor's degree in apparel/fashion design or related field. Typically reports to Chief Operation Officer (COO). Responsible for the development of functional or business unit strategy for the entire organization. Defines corporate vision and strategy establishes company direction and focus. Executes multiple high impact initiatives to achieve overall corporate goals.

Responsibilities

  1. Create well-organized fashion designs and develop new fashion ideas for periodic window looks.
  2. Ensure a consistent message while giving options to adapt for local needs.
  3. Collaborate with the marketing and advertising departments to craft strategies that effectively communicate the brand’s message.
  4. Plan and execute events such as catwalks from beginning to end.
  5. Identify emerging trends and translate them into fashion designs that match the brand’s fashion message.
  6. Collaborate closely with the buying and merchandising teams to develop a knowledge of key investments and high impact products.
  7. Partner with print and digital creative teams to design and produce fashion stories that highlight the key seasonal message while evolving the brand’s story.
  8. Partner with the public relations team to make sure key fashion messages are aligned throughout all channels.

Requirements

  1. Master’s degree in design or fine arts, or college degree in fashion design or related field
  2. 15 – 18 years of experience in fashion editorial and brand styling for a successful fashion brand
  3. Ability to work cross functionally and in a collaborative environment
  4. Elevated taste level and keen understanding of the fashion industry
  5. Excellent management and planning abilities
  6. Strong communicative skills with the ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders
  7. Creative mindset
  8. Proficient with Microsoft Office and Adobe Illustrator.
  9. Excellent design and conceptual skills.
